This scorching August brings in one of our favorite and hottest chefs in Portland for our monthly Pizza Social! New York native and gluten free enthusiast Gregory Gourdet, executive chef at Departure the Pan Asian cookery on top of The Nines Hotel downtown Portland, will bring a special Asian edge to the pizza this month. Gourdet started off as a pre-med student turned culinary extraordinar studying at the Culinary Institue of America. Then after completing his externship and graduating culinary school worked his way up the culinary ladder and quickly became Chef de Cuisine at 66, a former Jean-Georges modern Chinese restaurant. There Gourdet cultivated an affinity for the Asian cuisines and flavors. Shortly after he made the move to the west coast and eventually ended up in Portland. Drawn the city seeking inspiration and a well balanced life style his food reflects this ethos to the core. Bringing health mindedness to the table and specializing in delicious gluten-free, vegan, and paleo options at Departure he will be introducing our first Gluten Free pizza crust at Ned Ludd!
