Elder Hall is our lovely private dining & communal gathering space behind Ned Ludd. Rooted in the community, Elder Hall works to connect people and ideas through intimate gatherings around the table. With a beautiful kitchen and a completely flexible dining room, The Hall is perfect for whatever your private event entails. Menus are seasonal and each is customized for your event. We are proud to be a resource to the Portland creative community and can be reserved for photo shoots, brainstorms, ideation sessions and much more. In addition to private gatherings we host a series of classes, small suppers and workshops that are open for pre-sale to the public or private events. The Hall is equipped with WiFi and a bluetooth enabled sound system, projector and pop-up projection screen. Elder Hall is available to rent 7 days/nights a week, 7am-1am. Max seating capacity is 42 / standing 60.

Offering an intimate, inviting space to celebrate life’s important occasions is at the heart of what we do. We conceived Elder Hall with the idea of bringing people together to share stories, break bread, and make memories. We can’t think of any gathering as joyous as a wedding. Because it’s a REALLY BIG DEAL, we focus on the smallest of details to make your party go off without a hitch.
The first thing you’ll notice when you step through the doors of Elder Hall is that it feels like walking into a friend’s house. Our Shaker-inspired interior is a nod to our hand-crafted ethos in the kitchen. We can customize the Hall to fit your event while maintaining our warm, welcoming vibe. Our tables are communal and we like to serve family-style to give your guests more reasons to share and connect with one another. We also have a Beckel Canvas tent that can add room or create another cozy space for your celebration.
Everything we do centers around the kitchen, where chef Jason French and his team create menus inspired by our local bounty here in Oregon. Every dish is lovingly prepared and served. We will work closely with you to design a delicious seasonal menu. We also offer full beverage service and can create a custom cocktail to add another personal touch to your big day. On a important day, we work to make sure the food and drink is just as memorable.
We like to keep things simple at the Hall and let the warmth of the space speak for itself. Whether you prefer to bring in your own floral arrangements and decor or choose to work with our event coordinator to design your tablescapes and centerpieces, the whole space will reflect the atmosphere of your special event. Our event coordinator will also help manage the day so you can focus on the main event – your wedding!
